I would like to start this section of awesome books with one of my all-time favourite books, “The Power of Intention. Learning to Co-create Your World Your Way” by Dr. Wayne Dyer.
For those of you who don’t know Wayne Dyer, he holds a doctorate in educational counselling and is an internationally renowned author an speaker in the field of self-development, author of more than 30 books, audios and videos. He became a best-selling author with the book “Your Erroneous Zones“. For me (although he doesn’t know it yet, but I intend to personally tell him someday), Dyer is my spiritual guide and mentor.
It’s the first time in my life that after reading a book I decide to re-read it one page each day (or my highlighted text), and actually do it. It’s that good. It’s that inspiring!
As the title already suggests, this book will help you use intention to co-create the life you desire. Intention, as Dyer explains, is not something you do, but an energy you are part of. And you can access that energy with the tips and suggestions provided in the book.
One thing that I specially like is that he provides true stories and examples on how to make the connection with intention and at the end of many chapters you can find concrete suggestions for implementing the ideas in the chapter.
First of, it describes the seven faces of intention, and how you can connect with intention by putting them into action. Those seven attributes of intention are:
- endlessly abundant
In this first part, Dyer also describes the obstacles to connecting to intention and the impact you will have on others when you are connected.
In the second part of the book, you learn how to put intention to work, with specific information and a step-by-step guide for applying those principles to your daily life in the following areas:
- respecting yourself at all times
- living your life on purpose
- being authentic and peaceful with all of your relatives
- feeling successful and attracting abundance into your life
- living a stress-free, tranquil life
- attracting ideal people and Divine relationships
- optimizing your capacity to heal and be healed
- appreciating and expressing the genius that you are
The last part, as usual in other books by Wayne Dyer, describes a portrait of a person connected to the Field of Intention.
I remember reading it during our summer vacation and having several ‘aha-moments’ concerning different topics, depending on the chapter that I was reading. For example, the idea for this website came to me while reading this book. I felt a much deeper spiritual connection and understanding of who I really am. And many more awakening moments that I keep to myself.
Since I want to easily remember some of the sentences and concepts from the book that really had an impact on me, I’ll write here some of my favourite quotes extracted from “The Power of Intention”:
“Whatever you wish to accomplish is an existing fact, already present in Spirit. Eliminate from your mind thoughts of conditions, limitations, or the possibility of it not manifesting. If left undisturbed in your mind and in the mind of intention simultaneously, it will germinate into reality in the physical world.”
“If you aren’t doing what you love and loving what you do, your power of intention is weakened.”
“There are no limits to our potential as people, as collective entities and as individuals.”
“Your job is not to say how, it’s to say yes! Yes, I’m willing!”
“When doubt is banished, abundance flourishes and anything is possible.”
“Continuously contemplate yourself as being surrounded by the conditions you wish to produce.”
“It’s all about having an inner picture of abundance, thinking in unlimited ways, being open to the guidance that intention provides when you’re in a state of rapport with it -and then being in a state of ecstatic gratitude and awe for how this whole thing works.”
“Being receptive means allowing your ‘senior partner’ to handle your life for you.”
“Monitor your inner dialogue.”
“By bringing higher spiritual energy to everyone you encounter, you dissolve lower energies.”
“You know in your heart that your body is a system of miracles. You have great reverence for its amazing capacity to heal itself and to function on its own without your interference.”
“Remember at all times that what you think and what you do affects other people.”
“By raising your own frequency of vibration only slightly to a place where you regularly practice kindness, love, and receptivity, and where you see beauty and the endless potential of good in others as well as yourself, you counterbalance 90,000 people somewhere on this planet who are living in the low-energy levels of shame, anger, hatred, guilt, despair, depression, and so on.”
“If you want freedom, want it for everyone you love. If you want abundance, want it first for others. If you want happiness, want it more for others, and let them know it.”
“I showed up here from the infinitude of spiritual intention to fulfill a destiny that I must act on.”
“Perhaps the surest way to happiness and fulfillment in life is to thank and praise your Source for everything that happens to you. Then, even when a calamity arises, you can be assured that you’ll turn it into a blessing.”
There are many more quotes from Wayne Dyer’s book that I’d like to post, but this would get really long.
If what you read up until here touched your sensitive side, I would highly encourage you to get the book and not only read it, but study it, reflect and meditate on it. The information and practical suggestions in it can change your life forever, as it’s doing with mine.
Here you have an inspiring 10 minute video where Wayne Dyer briefly explains the power of intention:
Thank you Wayne, for being such an inspiration and for all those aha-moments that your words awakened in me!
